Gold Coast Events play an important role in making the city more fascinating. Since 1991, in October the streets of Surfers Paradise and Main Beach on the Gold Coast welcome INDY 300 race cars, V8 Supercars and show cars. Indy 300 is an American open wheel motor race which every year attracts the drivers from all around the world to challenge one another for 4.47 kilometers on the Gold Coast’s Surfers Paradise and Main Beach. During INDY 300 weekend, a lot is happening in the heart of the city; from Thursday until the end of Sunday during the day people are entertained by race cars, V8 supercars, show and costume-designed cars on the ground as well as helicopter and jet fighter shows up in the sky! In the evening is party time! All the clubs have special events, INDY parties and the nomination of INDY Model of the year.
Another annual Gold Coast event is Schoolies week. Between 16th and 25th of November the Gold Coast hosts hundreds of students from around Australia who celebrate finishing their high school. This event is almost 2 weeks of party party party along with many organised entertainments like beach party, beach cinema and many more in the heart of Surfers Paradise by the beach.
Magic Millions, significant racehorse auction which is held in Gold Coast’s Surfers Paradise every January. Horses are now flown between Australia, Asia, Europe and the US to be put into this auction. There are other various events held on the Gold Coast every year, namely, Big Day Out, The V Festival (representing Virgin Group), Summer Field Days and surfing competitions.
Another interesting Motor-related event on the Gold Coast is Antique Auto Club Original Swap. It takes place in mid June every year in Mudgeeraba and gives classic car lovers a chance to gather and sell or at least show off their antique, classic and vintage autos, also collectibles and model cars.
Pan Pacific Masters Games attracts almost 10,000 athletes from all around the world to the Gold Coast every year in November. There are 34 sports on the program including softball, touch football, soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball, athletics, swimming, cycling and many more.
